When the history of young women entrepreneurs is written, Lebogang Akinsuru will own the chapter on audacity.
She didn’t wait for permission to rewrite her future.
She traded the stethoscope for a palette and a piping bag, and built twin empires that make Mabopane look good and taste even better.
This stylish, bespectacled powerhouse started as a nursing student in 2009. But the hospital wasn’t her calling.
By 2012 she had opened Timbalebs Beauty Care in Mabopane, and it took off.
The salon specialises in make-up, threading, eyelash extensions, foot scrubs, acrylic and gel nails, and massages, among other services.
The visionary entrepreneur later moved the operation next to BB Mall and added Yemlebscakes a confectionery shop producing custom cakes, scones and a variety of cookies for every occasion.
Born and raised in the Ten Morgan section of Winterveldt, north of Tshwane, Akinsuru’s rise is pure grit.
A qualified beauty expert and baker, she has already trained eight young women who now run their own studios.
“I may have been born and raised in a rural area with limited access to modern things, but talent, passion, and high-quality work unlock doors,” she said.
Speaking telephonically, Akinsuru shared that she is currently training a young woman who works for a major motor company and is about to deliver a customised birthday cake to a client.
Last week, she completed a striking wedding cake for a client in Block BB.
Her business mantra is simple: “A customer will always be treated as a king.
Excellent service and a high-quality product are the main ingredients attitude has no room here.”
Akinsuru’s philosophy is clear: “We are living in a different era.
People need to be creative and create their own jobs, rather than relying on government.”
She backs her words with action, offering free training to passionate young women.
Lebogang Akinsuru didn’t just start businesses. She started a movement one brush stroke and one cake at a time.
From Mabopane to anywhere with a dream, her message is simple: you are the permission you’ve been waiting for.
Striking a balance between beauty and sweetness, Akinsuru’s dual passion is just a call away: 073 921 7474 for Timbalebs Beauty Care and Yemlebscakes.
