In a move that many political analysts and experts couldn’t see coming, former MK Party Spokesperson Nhlamulo Ndhlela and Duduzile Zuma Sambudla the party leader Jacob Zuma’s daughter, have been expelled from the MK Party.

This announcement was made by MK Party Secretary General Sibonelo Nomvalo at a media briefing held in Sandton, Johannesburg on Thursday.

“The President (Jacob Zuma) may determine and convene policy and consultative conferences to discuss issues and matters deemed important for the growth of the organisation, so accordingly, MK Party hereby announces the expulsion of Miss Duduzile Zuma Sambudla and Mr Nhlamulo Ndhlela from the party with immediate effect, and their membership of the party is hereby terminated; they shall no longer enjoy any rights, privileges, responsibilities or authority associated with membership of the orgsnisation” said Nomvalo in a statement that he read out to the media.

The statement suggests that the expulsion of Nhlamulo Ndhela and Duduzile Zuma Sambudla has the blessing of party leader Zuma.

Ndhlela and Duduzile Zuma Sambudla were found guilty of having acted in a manner fundamentally inconsistent with the values, discipline, constitutional principles and organisational interests of the MK Party.

“The party notes with serious concern the conduct of both members following the passing of MK Party MP Muzi Ntshingila as they participated in an activity that resulted in the transfer of an ailing Mr Ntshingila to another health facility without the consent of his family,” read the statement.

MK Party maintains that neither Ndhlela nor Duduzile Zuma Sambudla had any authority whatsoever to involve themselves in matters relating to Ntshingila’s illness including separating him from his family.

Despite clear instructions by MK Party senior leader John Hlophe to Ndhlela and Duduzile Zuma Sambudla not to attend the funeral proceedings of Ntshingila and also to refrain from making any public comments regarding the health status of the deceased as well as matters surrounding his marriage, both members defied Hlophe’s instructions in all respects.

Edward Mzikayise Ntshingila died on 4 June 2026 at a health facility in Johannesburg after a prolonged illness.

He was 43 years old and was MK Party’s election manager.
