A 53-year-old man has abandoned his bail application in the Cullinan Magistrate’s Court, where he is facing a charge of murder.
It is alleged that on 1 September 2026, a group of young people in Refilwe Extension 3 were celebrating Spring Day by pouring water on one another and on people passing by.
While the accused was walking past, it is alleged that the group attempted to pour water on him.
He allegedly took out a knife and stabbing the deceased.
The deceased was taken to a local clinic, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The accused was arrested on the same day at Ekangala Hospital after he was allegedly apprehended and assaulted by members of the community.
The matter was postponed to 27 October 2026 for further investigations.
