The African Unite Borders Bus Trucks Association ( AUBTTA )would like to warn all and sundry about a ticking time bomb that is in the form of the influx of foreigners nationals into South Africa.

The root cause of the influx is dictatorship by leaders on the African continent as this manifests itself in gross human rights violations, rigged elections, police and army brutality, kidnapping of opposition leaders and activists, as well as widespread assassinations.

Corruption at border posts perpetuated by some South African government officials also contributes to the crisis that South Africa is facing at the moment regarding illegal immigration.

At the moment many truck companies prefer to employ foreigners as truck drivers and this contributes to the already high unemployment rate and criminal activities by jobless South Africans.

It is unfortunate that President Cyril Ramaphosa and the Cross Border Road Transport Agency(CBRTA ) have ignored our calls and memorandum in this regard.

It is a fact that the majority of illegal immigrants are transported by buses which load them at illegal bus ranks with the collusion of some government officials.

It must also be pointed out that some government officials are involved in a syndicate that sells hijacked buildings in the Johannesburg CBD.

As South Africans we must prepare ourselves accordingly so that we don’t face the same shambolic situation that many African countries find themselves in.

The shambolic situation referred to here is civil war, terrorism and threats to our state security as our borders are presently porous.

It is our contention as AUBTTA that the South African government must condemn dictatorial governments on the African continent because these governments’ leadership styles in some cases lead to foreigners running away from their home countries and entering South Africa illegally through our unprotected borders.
