ActionSA Mayoral candidate and also current City of Tshwane Municipality Mayor Dr Nasiphi Moya went on a fundraising drive at the Groenkloof nature reserve in Tshwane on Saturday.
The fundraising drive is aimed at getting funds for the looming campaign regarding the 4 November 2026 Local Government Elections.

“Election campaigns cost a lot of money and as ActionSA in Tshwane we don’t have that kind of money and what we do is to have these small activities whereby we encourage the involvement of all ActionSA supporters and not only members to pay R150 and 60% thereof will go towards granting them access to Groenkloof nature reserve to indulge themselves in hiking activities with me,” explained Moya.

“This activity is also a way of building the community and as Mayoral candidate there are community members who don’t know me personally, so we use these hiking activities to get people to know me a little bit; which is something I enjoy,” she said.
Moya said Groenkloof nature reserve is her favourite hiking trail; that she has been hiking there for eight years now and that this started during the bleak days of Covid-19.
“Hiking is good for one’s health and as a diabetic myself I need to always be healthy and hiking serves that purpose for me,” said Moya as she revealed that her favourite trail is 10,5 kilometres.

“Groenkloof is one of the precious spots for us as the City of Tshwane and we use it to showcase the way we take care of the wild animals that are here and also how well-kept the place is,” she said.
“People who want to get hold of me, especially the young ones, join the trail and this is where they find me and they use such encounters to discuss specific issues with me,” she explained.
“Over and above the fundraising aspect of these trails, I love the spirit of community fellowship that is brought about by these trails,” she said
“We want a healthy nation and there’s so many benefits about being healthy, and many people who are not from wealthy families don’t think much about exercising as they spend most of their time at work and don’t take time to take care of themselves, but it is my belief that one must take care of themselves and be healthy because when one is physically healthy, one becomes mentally strong,” said Moya as she in the process appealed to everyone to always strive to be healthy as that helps in avoiding some diseases.
“Even when you can’t access a hiking trail, take walks around your community so as to stay healthy,” she said.
“I love hiking and I also engaged with the Mayor and I had fun; she was very kind and she listened to me with an understanding,” said Mpho Nyala after her encounter with Mayor Moya.
“This was an opportunity for me to see the Mayor and engage with her and I must say she is a cool Mayor who understands our problems as young people,” said Ofentse Matlala from Soshanguve, who was also at the Groenkloof nature reserve to take part in hiking activities with the Mayor.
