The Police in Bushbuckridge are investigating a case of murder following a gruesome and unfortunate incident that occurred earlier today, Tuesday, 05 May 2026 in Bushbuckridge and it involves a cash-in-transit vehicle.
There is also a video that has been circulated on various social media platforms and in relation to this incident, an attempted robbery is equally probed.
It is reported that a cash-in-transit vehicle, with two security officers, parked in Bushbuckridge while the passenger proceeded to a nearby store.
It is alleged that a male, armed with a sharp object opened the passenger door and attacked the security officer seated in the driver’s seat.
It is further reported that some security officers became aware of what was happening and are said to have fired shots at the alleged attacker, who fell to the ground.
It is further alleged that the driver of the cash-in-transit vehicle subsequently drove over the man , who was later certified dead at the scene.
The incident is being investigated and the deceased has not yet been formally identified.
With regards to the graphic video relating to the incident circulating on social media platforms, Police have taken note and have since urge members of the public to refrain from circulating, forwarding or sharing such footage.
This may cause further trauma to the families of those involved and to sensitive members of the public.
The investigating team must be afforded the necessary space to conduct a thorough investigation.
Meanwhile the Acting Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Major General (Dr) Zeph Mkhwanazi has strongly condemned the incident.
The General further promised to ensure that there is proper investigation into the matter whilst making sure that justice is served.
“Anyone who will be found to have acted unjustly will have to face the consequences without fear or favour, ” said the General.
