Putco is proud to announce the safe and successful completion of the first phase of its 2025 Easter pilgrimage operation to Moria, Limpopo, for the annual Zion Christian Church (ZCC) gathering.
A total of nearly 500 buses, including 40 operated by subcontracted partners to promote empowerment and transfer of operational experience, were dispatched from 1:00 AM and arrived at Moria by the end of the day.
This achievement reflects the detailed planning, professionalism, and large-scale capacity of one of South Africa’s leading public transport providers.
This year also marked the first deployment of Putco’s new-generation G7 Mercedes-Benz buses, offering passengers a superior travel experience with enhanced comfort, safety, and
reliability.
These modern vehicles are part of Putco’s visionary Bus Replacement Programme, led by Managing Director Mr FG Pisapia, whose leadership continues to shape the public bus transport sector.
At the heart of the operation was Putco’s advanced Monitoring Control Centre, which monitored all buses live using real-time geo-tracking and on-board CCTV systems.
This digital control centre played a crucial role in ensuring smooth coordination, rapid response, and passenger safety across the entire fleet.
This operation also served as a platform for empowerment and skills transfer to Putco’s subcontractors and joint venture partner, including Ipelegeng Transport, Gauteng Women in Transport (GWIT), Zembelani and SS Africa, ensuring they gain valuable experience in large-scale,
high-capacity transport operations.
Putco extends special thanks to the Limpopo Provincial Government, whose collaboration was vital in ensuring a safe and well-organised operation.
In particular, the company acknowledges:
•The South African Police Service, under the leadership of Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe
•The Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety
•The Provincial Traffic Police
Their joint efforts with Putco helped ensure smooth traffic management, safety enforcement, and overall operational support throughout the journey.
Putco is now preparing for the second and final phase of the operation, the return journey on 21 April 2025, where it will once again ensure that congregants are transported safely back to their homes and families.
The company is confident in its ability to deliver this next phase with the same
level of care and excellence.
It is worth noting that the nearly 500 buses used for this phase represent only one-third of Putco’s total fleet, highlighting the company’s operational strength and readiness to execute high-volume, large-scale transport solutions across the country.
Putco thanks all its drivers, staff, subcontractors, government partners, and the broader community for their trust, cooperation, and support in making this a safe and successful operation.
