As winter tightens its grip across the country, #NOTINMYNAME is stepping up to provide immediate relief to vulnerable communities while also championing electorate participation.

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has warned that cold conditions will persist into Monday, hitting the less privileged hardest.

In response, #NOTINMYNAME today announces a two‑month Winter Comfort & Voter Action Programme, running throughout June and July 2026 in multiple communities.

The initiative has two core pillars:

1. Emergency winter relief – soup kitchens, blanket and clothing distribution.

2. Voter registration encouragement – empowering residents to register for the upcoming Local Government Elections.

First event:
📅 12 July 2026
⏲️ 10h00
📌 Mamelodi, Ward 67 – Corner Msamanga and Mbuyane, A3

At this program, #NOTINMYNAME will run a soup kitchen and distribute blankets, warm clothes, and other survival essentials.

We call on all forward‑thinking South Africans to donate new or gently used blankets, winter clothing, and non‑perishable food items.

Donations can be dropped at the venue on the day or arranged via our office.

Beyond relief:
Recognising that long‑term change requires active citizenship, #NOTINMYNAME volunteers will be on the ground at every winter programme location to assist community members with voter registration.

We will provide information on how to check registration status, register online, or locate the nearest Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) station.

“Comfort in winter should not be a luxury – and neither should the right to shape our own governance.

We are bringing warmth to bodies and to our democracy, one community at a time.”
