An elated Joe “Ferrari” Sibanyoni thanked God, his supporters and his co-accused after his extortion case was struck off the roll at the Kwaggafontein Magistrate’s Court in the Mpumalanga Province on Monday.
Joe Ferrari and his co-accused had anticipated a long and tedious bail hearing process, but to their delight the presiding Magistrate Tuletu Tonjeni struck the matter off the court’s roll and ordered that the accused be released with immediate effect.
This after prosecutor Mkhuseli Ntaba failed to attend the said bail hearing.
Joe Ferrari’s accused in the matter were Mvimbi Masilela, Philemon Msiza and Bafana Oupa Sindane.
“I would like to thank God for this miraculous development; I would like to thank all the people and the neighbours who prayed for us; and I would also like to thank my former co-accused for having shown resilience during these trying times,” he said.
“Even when days are dark always put your faith in God and He will deliver miracles for you,” said Joe Ferrari to his supporters outside the courtroom.
Joe Ferrari also thanked his legal team profusely for having fought tooth-and- nail to secure his release from custody.
“Let’s all go to my home and celebrate this new development with a feast,”he said,i much to the laughter and satisfaction of his many supporters who had shown him support each time he appeared in court regarding the extortion matter.
The prosecution had alleged that the four men had extorted over R2 million from a Kwaggafontein businessman over a period of time ranging from 2022 to 2025 until he got tired of paying the “protection fee” and reported the matter to the police.
Meanwhile, the National Prosecuting Authority( NPA) has expressed disappointment regarding the botched case against Ferrari and his co-accused.
According to NPA Spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago, the case shall be reinstated and sent back to court soon.
