Speaker of the National Assembly Nosiviwe Mapisa- Nqakula allegedly accused of taking bribe

The trial against the former Speaker of Parliament, Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula, has been postponed by the Gauteng Division of the High Court , Pretoria, to 31 August 2026 for arguments on her application, in terms of Section 174 of the Criminal Procedure Act, for her to be discharged.
This follows the state having closed its case after leading its evidence through its witnesses.
Mapisa-Nqakula is facing 12 counts of corruption and one count of money laundering wherein she is accused of soliciting R4,5 million, with R2,1 million allegedly received as cash from a service provider.
