On behalf of the Multiparty Coalition Government, the MMC for Utility Services, Cllr Frans Boshielo, is pleased to announce the successful energisation of 129 newly
installed streetlights along Sinovich Drive in Ward 91, Region 6.

This milestone forms part of the City of Tshwane’s #SwitchOnTshwane service
delivery programme and supports the City’s ongoing efforts to strengthen public
infrastructure, improve community safety and enhance the quality of life of residents.

The newly energised streetlights will significantly improve visibility for motorists, pedestrians and public transport users along this important route, creating a safer environment, reducing safety risks and supporting crime prevention initiatives within the area.

The project further contributes to the City’s broader Electricity Stabilisation Plan, which is focused on restoring, upgrading and expanding critical electricity infrastructure to improve network reliability, strengthen service delivery and support sustainable economic growth across Tshwane.

The energisation of the streetlights demonstrates the Multiparty Coalition
Government’s commitment to investing in infrastructure that directly improves the
daily lives of residents while creating safer and better-connected communities.

In addition to the infrastructure benefits, the project created employment opportunities for 20 community members, contributing to local economic development and skills transfer.

MMC Boshielo commended the officials and stakeholders who contributed to the successful completion of the project.

“The energisation of these 129 streetlights is a practical demonstration of the Multiparty Coalition Government’s commitment to improving safety and delivering infrastructure that makes a meaningful difference in the lives of residents.

Reliable public lighting enhances road safety, supports economic activity and helps create safer public spaces for communities.

I would like to commend the officials of
the Energy and Electricity Business Unit and all stakeholders involved for their
dedication and hard work in delivering this important project,” said MMC Boshielo.

The Multiparty Coalition Government remains committed to accelerating infrastructure investment through programmes such as #SwitchOnTshwane and the Electricity Stabilisation Plan, ensuring that residents benefit from reliable services, safer public spaces and a resilient electricity network that supports long-term growth and development.
