The South African National Civic Organisation (SANCO) in the Northwest on Friday called for the unity of the African National Congress (ANC) led revolutionary alliance.

The vanguard of communities in its May Day statement argued that the alliance has been the driving force of South Africa’s path to freedom and the creation of a just society.

“As long as it remains strong and united it will keep our country on the path of change.

Above all it will help to ensure that the needs of the poorest and most vulnerable come first,” highlighted SANCO North-West Interim Provincial Coordinating Committee Convenor, Paul Sebegoe.

The civic movement advancing community struggles for people centered and community driven development urged communities to use the power that is in their hands for a decisive ANC Local government elections victory on the 4th of November 2026.

Sebegoe maintained that workers are an indispensable force to advance productivity that will lead to economic growth, job creation and community development.

“A united COSATU therefore is an indispensable force for socio-economic transformation, political stability, growth and development.

Likewise, the unity of the revolutionary alliance led by the ANC and our communities is more than ever needed to roll back poverty, unemployment and inequality,” he remarked.

Unity is necessary to overcome the economic challenges and the threat of job losses facing the mining sector and other sectors of our economy.

It is also required to defeat greed and corruption threatening to erode confidence in our public institutions, he stressed.

Sebegoe mentioned that it is necessary to unite in action as 2026 has been declared the Year of Decisive Action to Fix Local Government and Transform the Economy.

“This is the year for our communities to take center stage and use the power that is in their hands for a decisive ANC Local government elections victory on the 4th of November 2026.

It is the year to entrench good governance as well as accountability to accelerate service delivery and eradicate the legacy of apartheid that has robbed our people of their dignity,” he added.

He further said that the alliance must reclaim high moral ground and advance in unity towards victory in the local government elections to entrench the culture of service, selflessness, humility, principled leadership and integrity that Chris Hani embodied.

The civic movement called on workers to use their votes to defeat the immaturity, lawlessness and anarchy of the EFF as well as the racism, labour brokers and white supremacy that the DA is defending even within the GNU.

“We must use our votes to unequivocally reject the notion that there is white genocide in South Africa as well as defeat the resurgence of white supremacy and Zionism whose charge is led by the warmongers, Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu who are determined to destabilise global economies through tariffs,” he accentuated.

SANCO called for an end to the senseless war in Iran, the atrocities as well as war crimes in Gaza perpetuated against the people of Palestine, Cuba and Venezuela and across the Middle East.

“As we begin celebrating Africa month, we call on our communities to reject global aggression, violence as well as anarchy and to say No to xenophobia and Afrophobia.

The successful social integration and peaceful co-existence that has been achieved in many of our communities must be defended,” he underscored.
