The Mabopane Winterveldt Klipgat Taxi Association (MAWIKTA) held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday to account to its members regarding the finances of the organisation.

According to Public Relations Officer Boshego Thobejane, the organisation’s constitution dictates that an audit of the organisation’s finances be conducted and he therefore enlisted the services of an Accountant to do the job.

“You can not just appoint anyone to audit the finances of the organisation because a qualified auditor is the one who must do the job,” said Thobejane.

He also revealed that the organisation has now been registered as a company (PTY Limited) and is no longer a Non-Profit Organisation (NPO).

He said this move will see the organisation not concentrating only on taxis but also venturing into the truck and buses business so as to make more money for members of the organisation.

“We will be giving quarterly reports to our members going forward and I am happy with the outcome of the meeting today,” said Thobejane.

He pointed out that though some members of the organisation have not been able to attend the AGM, they are still bound by the decisions of the meeting because they automatically become part and parcel of the meeting by virtue of having sent apologies for their absence.

Thobejane thanked commuters for supporting his organisation all these years and also expressed gratitude for the support and attendance of the local region of SANTACO led by Rasepi and SALLBO led by its secretary Maria Ntuli.
