Tshwane MMC for Human Settlements, Ald. Aaron Maluleka, conducted an oversight visit to the Winterveld Water and Sewer Reticulation Project to assess
progress and ensure implementation remains on track.

The project commenced on 21 November 2024.

To date, the project has reached 45% completion, with the contractor performing 11% ahead of schedule.

Significant progress has been recorded.
Specifically:

•11 900 meters of water piping installed;

•16 200 meters of sewer piping installed;

•809 toilets constructed, with 794 completed up to roof level; and

•Installation of services to 1 274 erfs already underway which is well ahead of
the scheduled completion date of 28 March 2028.

Despite this progress, the project continues to face several obstructions and encroachments.

The relocation process for more than 400 affected households is at an advanced stage, and resolving these encumbrances remains essential for earlier completion of the project.

The Department of Human Settlements remains confident that the installation of water and sewer services for the 1 274 erfs will be completed before the planned completion date of 28 March 2028.

MMC Maluleka urged residents to remain patient as the City works diligently to
deliver the much-needed services.

“We understand the inconvenience caused during major infrastructure upgrades, but these short-term disruptions pave the way for long-term improvements in service delivery and quality of life.

We appreciate the community’s cooperation as we accelerate progress in Winterveld.
