Alleged killer of two Mamelodi young ladies Tebogo Mnisi will spend this Christmas festive season in jail.
This after he abandoned his application for bail in the Mamelodi Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
The 38-year-old Tebogo Minisi, who lives in the same Extension 17 area of the Far East of Mamelodi where the deceased young ladies also used to live in, sat sullen-faced in the dock as media cameras and the eyes of the public glared at him relentlessly.
He is represented by a State lawyer as he has indicated that he can’t afford a private lawyer.
“Tebogo Mnisi of Extension 17 Mamelodi East, has abandoned his bail application in the Mamelodi Magistrate’s Court earlier today where he faces two counts of premeditated murder, attempted murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm as well as possession of unlawful ammunition,” read a statement released to the media by NPA Spokesperson Lumka Mahanjana.
Mahanjana continued as follows:
“It is alleged that during the early hours of 26 October 2025, at approximately 02:00, the accused shot and killed his girlfriend Tshiamo Sweetness Moramaga (22), her cousin Baleseng Mirandah Moramaga( 21) and also allegedly attempted to kill their friend Desmond Senong (27), who was with the two women at Small Konka Tavern in Mamelodi at the time of the incident.”
Mahanjana said following police investigations, the accused was arrested at a petrol-filling station situated on Solomon Mahlangu Drive on 27 October.
The case was postponed to 19 January 2026, which means Minisi will spend the Christmas festive season behind bars.
“The National Prosecution Authority (NPA) condemns acts of gender-based violence and femicide and remains committed to ensuring that perpetrators face the full might of the law,” said Mahanjana.
Outside the court, Tshwane Regional Deputy Chairperson of the Umkhonto We Sizwe Women’s League Mamosa Ramaisa told Tshwane Talks that young women are going through a lot as a result of the government’s negligence on them in terms of employment and young women are compelled to make difficult choices just to put bread on the table and survive, and in some cases those choices lead to the situation that has happened now, namely the killing of the two young ladies.
“I think the death penalty should be reinstated in South Africa but concrete evidence must first be presented to avoid accusing people falsely, but once evidence has been presented, then culprits must face the death penalty,” enthused Ramaisa.
Tshwane ANC Youth League Deputy Chairperson Thabang Mahlomuza said as an organisation they have always been championing anti gender-based violence initiatives and the protection of women and young children.
“We want justice for the victims and no bail must be given to the perpetrator and at the moment we are questioning the decision taken by the powers that be in a democratic South Africa to abandon the death penalty,” said Mahlomuza.
Emmanuel Senong, who is the elder brother of one of the shot victims Desmond Senong, told Tshwane Talks that the incident has hurt him very much.and doesn’t even want to see the suspect but wants to see him being given life sentences and rot in jail.
Desmond Senong’s sister Mpho Masingi revealed that Desmond has been shot in the private parts and won’t be able to live like he used to if he survives.
“Desmond is a quiet, sociable person and doesn’t deserve what happened to him and I am calling for an end to the culture of carrying guns because in most cases innocent people end up dead or badly injured,” she said.
