Gauteng MK Party Spokesperson Abel Tau
By Abel Tau
MKP Gauteng Provincial Spokesperson
uMkhonto Wesizwe party in Gauteng is highly infuriated by the discovery that the city of Tshwane has already spent over R777 million rands by the end of the financial year on water tankers.
This is a huge indictment on Mayor Moya and her party who have styled themselves as corruption busters and efficient while all that is is a smokescreen
to conceal their reckless spending.
Not so long ago Mayor Moya switched off Weskoppies psychiatric Hospital in Pretoria West full of care needing patients and recently Pretoria secondary school in Sunnyside was also switched off all because these very important institutions were slightly late on their rates and taxes all this to ensure that she services water tankers with the bulk of this money.
MK Party can safely say that service delivery had come to an almost standstill in townships.
Today as it rains most communities from Soshanguve block DD, Lotus Gardens in Atteridgeville all the way to Nellmaphius are without electricity because necessary preventative maintenance is not prioritised.
We are calling on the residents
of Tshwane to stand up to this abuse of public funds.
As uMkhonto Wesizwe party we will be writing to the Mayor officially to demand answers on this reckless spending.
We will also be working closely with our colleagues in the ATM who are represented in council to call for a report on this blatant mismanagement of hard earned Tshwane taxes on which further action may be taken depending on what will be contained on
such a report.
We will be looking into approaching the Auditor General as well as the public protector to ensure that Mayor Moya fully accounts.
MKP Tshwane will also be gearing itself up for mother of all protest actions in
Tshwane.
We will do everything in our power to ensure that in line with one of our
pillars, we restore the dignity of the people of Tshwane especially those who are systematically deprived of basic services.
