The United Africans Transformation party (UAT) handed food parcels to over hundred families in Ward 4 Kimberly, Northern Cape on Sunday.

UAT Launches Food Relief Initiative in Northern Cape today, distributing over 100 food parcels to support vulnerable communities in the region.

This effort underscores UAT’s commitment to addressing food insecurity and promoting the well-being of citizens in need.

This was a Presidential Visit to Northern Cape.

Amongst the visitors was President of UAT Dr. Bantu Wonder Mahlatsi along side National Executive members Secretary General Doer Japhter Baloyi and UAT NEC members.

Families were so happy to received food parcel from the UAT.

Families were delighted and said the food parcels came at the right time.

According to UAT’s Secretary General Doer Japhter Baloyi, they went to Kimberly knowing full well that poverty, unemployment and lack of water are some of the challenges facing their members there.

“While on our campaign trail, we came across a family of one of our members who highlighted the fact that her family doesn’t have a toilet at all and we have promised to build them one,” said Baloyi.

“We also found the house of one of our members on the brink of collapse due to the cracks therein, and as a result some of the family members are afraid to sleep in the house and we asked them to give us some time to do the necessary repairs to the house because by so doing we will be able to restore their dignity,” enthused Baloyi.

He added that they want to make the necessary repairs so that the family can live together again as a united unit without fear of the strong winds or heavy rains.

“There are two school children in the family who can’t concentrate on their school work as they are always worried about the imminent collapse of the house,” he said.

Baloyi said the Ward 4 Kimberly community was overjoyed by the kind gesture shown by UAT to the community and revealed that the food parcels contain basic necessities like mealie meal, sugar, flour, tin fish, cooking oil, washing powder and bath soap.

“We believe that this small gesture of kindness will help the families for some time and our members adhere to the norms and values of helping one another because a human being exists because of other human beings,” he said.

He elaborated that UAT members learned the norms and values of Ubuntu from their social partner Tau Project and that is why their core value as UAT is Ubuntu.

“Some of our members didn’t know how they were going to make ends meet today in terms of providing food for their children because they always get something to eat when attending the party’s events, but usually don’t have anything to take back to their children after such events, so the food parcels will come in handy for them and their families,” said Baloyi.

“I’m so happy to get food parcels and I had run out of food at home and now thanks to UAT I will eat with my kids,” said Refilwe Phetla.

“I wanna thanked God for bringing UAT in our lives and they are good people who cares about us and show us love and I wanna thanked UAT for the food parcels,” said Rose Mashata.

“I’m happy and this tears are tears of joy that I will have something to eat for me and my family until I get my grant money next month and I wish God bless UAT to do more,” said Petros Lehlaba with a happy face.
