Laudium Police officers arrested three suspects for the possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition on Thursday night.
While the Police officers were performing crime prevention patrols on Thursday 2024-02-08 evening,
they received information from the Community about a suspicious motor vehicle with three occupants parked in Himalaya street Laudium.
Tshwane District spokesperson Warrant Officer Johan van dyk said police responded swiftly on the information received, and traced the vehicle matching the description and suspects given.
“Upon searching the vehicle, 2 firearms, magazines and seven rounds of ammunition were found,” Warrant Officer Van Dyk said.
He said all three suspects could not produce a license to possession a firearm or give a reasonable explanation on how they got in possession of the firearms.
The suspects were arrested and charged for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunitions.
“The firearms will undergo ballistic analysis to determine potential involvement in other criminal activities,” he said.
Warrant van Dyk said the suspects will appear in Atteridgeville Magistrate court.
