The 2024 general elections in South Africa have been hailed as the ones that have produced the highest ever voter turnout in the country’s election history.

For obvious reasons politicians joined the voting brigade to cast their votes at various voting stations in Gauteng and Tshwane in particular.

Here is how they expressed their feelings after voting on 29 May.

CILLIERS BRINK – CITY OF TSHWANE MAYOR.

I feel super-excited to have cast my vote as this is a historical election for South Africa.

It won’t just determine the future of national and provincial government, but it will have big implications for the City of Tshwane.

Remember, we operate within the laws and policies determined at other spheres of government like the provincial and national government.

Don’t let the long queues dissuade you from voting, this as it is the folks in the queue who can help steer the country, the province and ultimately our City in the right direction.

DEBYER WILLIAMS- MOSES – PATRIOTIC ALLIANCE COUNCILLOR IN THE CITY OF TSHWANE.

Our vote is not a secret at all.

We understand that a pen is mightier than the sword and our votes will count because we cast them for the Patriotic Alliance.

TSHEPISO MODIBA – ACTIONSA TSHWANE CAUCUS SPOKESPERSON.

I feel excited to be part of a generation that has made history.

BONGANI BALOYI- XALUVA PARTY LEADER. It’s done, we have voted for our future and I have done my part and I hope all registered voters will go and vote.

This is an important election for the future of our country and we must not take our democracy for granted.

Let us exercise the provisions within our democracy to elect those who want to lead our government.

ABEL TAU – F4SD GAUTENG PREMIER CANDIDATE.

I am excited because I am waiting to take over the most important job in Gauteng and I am very confident of our chances as a party and as a person

This is not our 1994, it is much more important than that.

What this huge voter turnout means is that there is something special happening and as F4SD we don’t want to miss it.

PHATHIWE NDLELENI – SIZWE UMMAH NATION ( SUN) PARTY SPOKESPERSON.

We as SUN Party are heartened by the substantial voter turnout witnessed at many polling stations

This high level of participation clearly indicates a strong desire for change among many South Africans.

This is a testament of the democratic spirit and collective will of the people to shape the future of our nation.
