On 12 June 2025, I, Mayibuye Melisizwe Mandela, officially opened a criminal case at Jeppe Police Station in Johannesburg against 49 white Afrikaners who have falsely claimed asylum in the United States based on fabricated allegations of a so-called “white genocide” in South Africa.

This follows a failed attempt earlier in the day to open the case at Hillbrow Police Station, where I was advised that such matters should be handled by Jeppe Police Station due to jurisdictional requirements.

At Jeppe, a senior officer, a Captain, explained the legal process of laying charges of this magnitude.

I was informed that when opening a case of treason or a similar high-level matter in South Africa, it is first registered as an Enquiry and recorded in the Occurrence Book (OB).

This allows for a preliminary investigation to determine whether full criminal charges can be laid. The case was officially logged under OB Number: 778/06/2025.

The basis of my complaint stems from the recent granting of asylum to 49 white Afrikaners by the United States government, who misrepresented South Africa as a nation undergoing “white genocide.”

This malicious fabrication is not only baseless, but it also undermines the dignity, sovereignty, and international standing of our country. These actions are tantamount to treason and incitement, and they actively promote a false narrative designed to sow racial division and global misinformation about South Africa.

Furthermore, these individuals were heavily supported and promoted by Afriforum and Solidarity, organisations that have engaged in deliberate campaigns to defame the Republic of South Africa abroad.

Their efforts have been amplified through the media, lobbying foreign governments, and disseminating content that promotes disunity and racial hatred.

These acts are not only reckless but criminal under various South African laws, including those governing treason, cyber defamation, incitement to public violence, and violations of immigration protocols through fraudulent asylum claims.

This case seeks to hold accountable those who have deliberately sabotaged the image of our country and undermined national unity for political and ideological gains.

It also calls for a coordinated response by state organs, including the Department of Justice, DIRCO, the Department of Home Affairs, and international cooperation through INTERPOL, to ensure justice is served.

I want to make it absolutely clear: I love my country.

I will defend its dignity, sovereignty, and unity at all costs.

If there are white Afrikaners who no longer wish to be part of South Africa, they are free to leave but they must do so peacefully and lawfully, without spreading lies or inciting international hostility against us.

We are the people of this land, and we must protect its image and future.

The United States and its media should stop acting as the global moral authority, especially when they continue to stand on the wrong side of history.

South Africa deserves respect and protection from all who attempt to divide it for selfish political agendas.

I will provide additional evidence and affidavits as requested by the authorities, and I will not rest until these grave acts of defamation and betrayal are thoroughly investigated and prosecuted.

Mayibuye Melisizwe Mandela is former President Nelson Mandela’s great grandson.
