Mmarona Stacey Care Centre patron Stacey Mosehle has made an appeal to the Tshwane community and South Africans in general to go back to their roots and revive the spirit of Ubuntu among themselves.

Speaking at a function held at her centre on Heritage Day, Mosehle said the following during her address to the community:

“Killing each other must come to an end and we must always remember that every child belongs to the community and every adult is a parent regardless of whether they are biological parents or not.”

She said sharing is caring and the community must always be prepared to volunteer their services and expertise without expecting any favours in return.

“Every person is a human being regardless of their nationality and in as much as one needs love and protection, one must accord the same to one’s fellow human beings,” she said.

She said each and every member of the community must always remember that they are what they are today because of the love and protection given to them by others.

“Why create pain or harm in the community…where is Ubuntu in that?” she asked.

“How do you sleep knowing that you have intentionally hurt or harmed someone and that the selfsame person you have done wrong to is crying?” she asked.

“How do you cope in life knowing that you have killed someone and their children are orphans today?” lamented Mosehle.

“How do you sleep knowing that some children are addicted to nyaope because you are selling it to them?” she asked as she in the process urged the audience to do some introspection regarding the aforesaid issues.

“We must go back to our roots!” she emphasised.

According to Mosehle, the aim of the Mmarona Stacey Care Centre is to empower wome and children and support victims of Gender-Based Violence as well as orphaned and vulnerable children in the community.

“We envision a world where women, men and children live free from violence, discrimination and fear, and can thrive in safe and equitable communities,” said Mosehle as a parting shot.
