The South African Transport and Allied Workers Union (SATAWU) welcomes the ruling of the Gauteng North High Court Division.
This comes after the embattled State-owned entity, the North West Transport Investment (NTI) has failed to pay our members and workers their salaries
for over a year.
SATAWU has been in and out of courts fighting for NTI employees to get their
salaries.
In June 2025, works were back paid their salaries for three months and we demanded the entity must pay the remaining amounts, however it has been a struggle.
Today we are pleased to announce that the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria has once again ruled in our favour.
The embattled BRP that is fighting a losing battle Thomas Samson has been ordered to release R18 000 000. 00 (R18 million) to pay salaries of the employees within 48 hours.
This is yet another victory for our members and unorganised employees within the state-owned entity.
The ruling is not just a victory to our members but to the people of Gauteng and Northwest as well.
The reality is that the people of the Northwest were robbed of proper service when the buses not fully operating due to non-payment of salaries of our NTI employees.
We also want to state that, yes there is a slightly difference at NTI, however a lot still needs to be done, that
includes paying workers every cent that is due to them, rebuilding the entity, rooting out corruption and holding those who are implicated into any wrong doings accountable.
The South African Transport and Allied Union will be closely monitoring these new developmentsto ensure that workers are all paid, there’s no corruption that takes place and that the buses are
all road worthy to ensure the safety of our members and the commuters.
