“GOD HAS BLESSED US, LET US IN TURN BLESS OTHERS,” SAYS MONAGENG
The Stemmer Monageng Foundation held a fun walk and community upliftment event at Nellmapius Extension 22 on Heritage Day 24 September.
“We are here at Nellmapius because my Foundation felt we must come together with the community of Nellmapius and have some fun; we also had a soccer tournament and we also gave out some blankets and food parcels for the benefit of the community,, especially for the elderly,” said Monageng.
The Stemmer Monageng Foundation sponsored the Heatherly Rose Football Club with start-up funds and also donated funds to help members of the local community to clear out an illegal dumping site in the area.
Monageng also donated two cows to the community of Nellmapius Extension 22 and bought food, medals and a trophy for the local soccer tournament.
“We need to cheer up the people of this area because it is mostly populated by the poorest of the poor in society,’ he said.
“If foundations like that of my own don’t come on board to assist this community then people with a negative mindset will come into the community and influence it negatively,” he said.
“One of the problems that is of concern to the Nellmapius community is crime and even though our security company is patrolling the area overnight that is not enough,” he said.
“Investors are running away from Nellmapius because of crime including extortion, and the community must help us in preventing this kind of crime and I am disappointed that a bakkie vehicle was stolen just behind us when we were doing preparations for this event during the week,” lamented Monageng.
“We are here to show the community of Nellmapius that we care and I am calling upon business people of Nellmapius to not only take from the community but also plough back into the community,” he said.
“We need the support of the police and even though we have invited them to this fun walk event they have not showed up and this is very disappointing,” he said.
Monageng stressed that the community of Nellmapius needs to see police visibility so that they can have confidence in them.
“Now that God has blessed us, we must also bless others,” said Monageng enthusiastically as he joined other community members in celebrating Heritage Day at Nellmapius and taking part in the fun walk organised by his foundation.
