The Forum for South Africa (FOSA) condemns, in the strongest possible terms, the brutal murder of a witness linked to the Madlanga Commission.
This tragic incident represents a grave failure in ensuring the safety and security of individuals who come forward to assist in uncovering the truth.
FOSA further denounces the Madlanga Commission for failing to put in place adequate and effective measures to protect witnesses throughout the inquiry.
With the matter still fresh and under active investigation, this development is deeply alarming and raises serious concerns for the safety of other witnesses who are yet to participate.
Given the millions of rands spent on the Commission, FOSA believes that proper attention and resources should have been prioritised towards witness protection.
The safety of witnesses is central to the credibility, integrity, and legitimacy of any judicial or investigative process.
FOSA is deeply disturbed and outraged by this news and calls for urgent intervention by law enforcement and government to safeguard all remaining witnesses, restore confidence in the process, and ensure that justice is not derailed by acts of intimidation or violence.
