FOSA is deeply shocked and disturbed by the tragic mass shooting in Saulsville, where 25 people were shot, leaving 11 confirmed dead and 14 survivors currently receiving medical care in hospital.
Among the deceased are three minors a 3-year-old boy, a 12-year-old boy, and a 16-year-old girl.
The remaining victims are adults.
The lives of these young children, taken so violently, highlight once again the extreme urgency of confronting violent crime in our communities.
We note that the incident occurred at an illegal shebeen, underscoring the persistent challenges posed by unregulated alcohol outlets that often become hotspots for crime and lawlessness.
FOSA welcomes the swift action by the South African Police Service (SAPS) in launching a manhunt for the three unknown suspects, and we urge law enforcement to ensure that those responsible are apprehended without delay.
This horrific incident is a direct attack on community safety and human life.
We call on government, SAPS, and community structures to intensify crime-prevention operations, shut down illegal establishments, and restore law and order in Saulsville and across the country.
Additionally, FOSA reiterate its call on the reinstatement of death penalty to anyone found guilty of deliberate murder.
We have lost many lives due to a failing Judicial and criminal system. It is now time for the citizens to decide what is best for the country.
A REFERENDUM is the only and last exercise of democracy, and we call on the President to urgently consider a Referendum on murder cases.
FOSA sends its heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and wishes all survivors a full and speedy recovery.
