The ANC Greater Tshwane Caucus notes with disappointment the walk out of the DA Councillors serving in the most crucial committee on Finance – on claims that reports were not served to committee members on time, which is not the truth.

It is common knowledge that the City’s affairs in the last 8 years had a taken an unprecedented turn, with services very critical having not been provided accordingly across the City, particularly in historically marginalised communities.

Central in holding those in the previous administration accountable, is to have a model prescribed within the law for the legislative arm of council through committees to hold the Executive to account – and that function is conducted through the sitting of such committees that the DA, choose not to attend citing, the much unfortunate (brief for that matter) technical grudges reported in Tshwane over its server on the 20th March 2025 – and reports that had to be tabled at the oversight committee on Finance meeting were uploaded on the share point system as early as 7 days ago, and the arguments they raised were rather unfortunate and unwarranted

But the walk out led by Cllr Jacqui Uys who was MMC responsible for Finance under the failed administration of the DA, is intended to frustrate work of council in unearthing the ills that have plunged the finances of the city to an all time low,

During her tenure as MMC for Finance, the Municipality under her leadership lost no less than R800 million and the institutions which monitor the performance and prudent usage of public funds had made findings that are damning with many adverse findings from the AG South Africa, to Moodies downgrading of the City.

Nostalgic Jacqui Uys who is struggling to accept that she will not be an MMC anymore.

On the 18th March 2025 the City hosted a media briefing to inform and explain to the residents about the Incentive and Debt Relief Scheme and the Valuation of properties for 25/26 she nefariously decided to undermine this important work and ran to Public Protector at the same time to divert attention and try to steal the moment with unfounded allegations.

Cllr Jacqui Uys, who headed the Dept of Finance to its knees – always has innovative ways of derailing the great amount of work done by the coalition government led by the ANC in Tshwane.

The Dept in question has not intervened on many financial challenges that were by the City and embarked on projects such as Tshwane YaTima targeting impoverished communities even when those residents would have through their ward councillors expressed challenges on wrongful billing.

Their (Cllr Jacqui Uys) administration is hellbent in creating anarchy on any attempt by the current administration in resolving the very problems that have been inherited and these acts of disruptions have a negative bearing in Townships across the city as these communities have hugely suffered injustice under the DA leadership and administration, and never have they focused their financial recovery plans to have a balanced and realistic financial outcome for all residents of Tshwane.

She disrupts each and every Section 79 Committee of Finance to hide her misgivings.

No a single financial committee meeting goes without her disruptive shenanigans – the ANC in Tshwane stands firm in its conviction under the current coalition set up, to continue to carry out many initiatives to improve and provide our communities with:

– financial relief for struggling families & businesses

– amnesty for residents who have been wanting the intervention of the local state to normalise their accounts on electricity and or water

– Embarking on a decisive and realistic programs on our financial recovery to remedy the finacial sink hole experienced by the majority of residents in the 8 year period effective from post the 2016 LGE.
