Following the City of Tshwane’s announcement regarding the discovery of an illegal private helipad on municipal land opposite Waterkloof Primary School at the intersection of Julius Jeppe and Crown Streets, the City is pleased to confirm that the unauthorised structure has now been completely dismantled.

When the unlawful use of City-owned land was first uncovered, we committed to
urgent action – and today, we deliver on that promise.

This outcome demonstrates that in Tshwane, unlawful conduct is met with swift and decisive action.

The dismantling of the illegal helipad restores the integrity of our municipal land, protects the sensitive wetland environment, and ensures the safety of nearby schools and residents.

It reaffirms that Tshwane is a city governed by law, order, and respect for public spaces.

Speaking on the matter, the MMC for Corporate and Shared Services, Cllr. Kholofelo Morodi stated: “Municipal land belongs to the residents of Tshwane.

It must be protected, respected, and managed with the public’s interest in mind.

The dismantling of this illegal helipad sends a clear message: no illegal occupation or misuse of public property will be tolerated by this Multiparty Coalition Government.”

This success story is more than a technical enforcement action – it is a political statement.

It reflects a government that takes its responsibility seriously and places
the collective interest of residents above all else.

The City of Tshwane will continue to
act decisively wherever municipal property is threatened or misused.

The City remains committed to rooting out any unlawful occupation or misuse of
municipal assets.

The City’s leadership will continue working tirelessly to ensure that Tshwane remains a city of fairness, lawfulness, and opportunity for all who call it home.
