Two members of the infamouus Farasei criminal gang were shot and killed in a hail of bullets in broad daylight on Monday afternoon in Extension 5, Far East of Mamelodi, in what is widely believed to be a hit by members of the equally infamous criminal gang known as Bad Company.
Speaking to people who said they witnessed the whole criminal incident, Tshwane Talks established that at the time they were ambushed, the two slain Farasei gang members were at the premises of a business that sells livestock and also serves as a butchery as it also sells readily cut meat in Extension 5.
According to witnesses, four ambushed men were busy having a meeting with an official from the department of the agriculture who came to view the places so that they can get a funding from the department.
At the time the Farasei members were looking for funding in their livestock business and also, they were looking for some help at the department on how to slaughter an animal in a right way because they were not doing it right according to the law.
It is alleged the official from the department liked the idea of township economy and it can boost the economy of Mamelodi, and people would get employment if they had gotten the funding from the department and they were willing to come on board and helped them.
It is alleged the officials liked the idea and praise the idea and said it is the first time seeing something like this in the township.
While the men were busy in a meeting and touring the place tending to the livestock when all of a sudden 4 men came out of a white golf 5 GTI with registration number and each members holding their pistol on their hands one suspects not even hiding his faces with balaclavas and the other three were wearing balaclava enter the business premises and pass the customers and staff and went straight to the a member of Farasei member who was helping officials.
The four men started shooting at them with pistol without saying a word.
The two slain Farasei gang members had tried to run away in vain as several bullets hit them simultaneously and they were shortly pronounced dead right at the scene.
All four men shoot at them with more than 15 bullets.
Meanwhile, a reliable source has told Tshwane Talks that the squabble between the two criminal gangs entres around a container and a “business deal” at the aforementioned livestock business/butchery.
The said container, according to the source, actually belongs to the City of Tshwane Municipality and was brought to the premises of the livestock business/butchery by the selfsame two slain Farasei gang members in April this year.
The container had been left unused in one of the streets of in tone of the streets of Stoffel Park by the City of Tshwane way back in 2016 after it had been used to store materials and files for a project of installing electricity poles in the informal settlement.
As the container been standing like a white elephant for many years in Stoffel Park it is alleged that the Farasei gangsters then saw it fit to take it to the livestock business/ butchery for private use in April 2024, it has also emerged that before the container could be taken to the livestock premises/butchery, the leader of a rival gang known as Bad Company had all along had the same idea to take the container to the butchery /livestock premises and strike a deal with the owners of the livestock premises/ butchery.
Apparently the slain Farasei gang members upstaged and betrayed him and did the business deal with the owners of the butchery themselves without giving him any shares, thus raising his ire and desire for revenge.
It is now believed that the beef between the two criminal gangs (Farasei and Bad Company) is worsening.
In July 2024, the leader of Bad Company gang was shot but survived, and it is alleged the people who were responsible for his attempted murder were Farasei gangsters, with the reason being the livestock business/butchery and the container.
Members of the community have indicated that they fear that there will be more revenge killings on the ground as the two warring gangs are allegedly planning revenge against one another.
Gauteng SAPS Spokesperson Colonel Masondo said police have launched a manhunt for suspects after two people were fatally shot in Mamelodi East on Monday 26 August 2024 at approximately 15:00.
