Former Deputy President DD Mabuza says the ANC is the home of everyone, including those who quit the ruling party to join opposition parties like the EFF, DA, Cope and MK, but are now thinking of rejoining the party.
Mabuza said this at an ANC election rally in Mamelodi East on Monday.
“We are going to welcome everyone back to the party as we are the home of everyone,” he said.
Mabuza pointed out that the ANC is aware that people are ganging up against the ruling party regarding the forthcoming general elections on May 29.
“Come May 29 the ANC will emerge victorious and make a difference,” he said.
Mabuza expressed satisfaction at the large turnout of ANC supporters at the rally and the warm welcome he received from the people of Mamelodi.
“People are going to vote for the ANC and I am quite confident of a win in the general elections,” said Mabuza.
He said he was aware that people of Mamelodi, especially the elderly population, have a problem with the City of Tshwane’s indigent programme known as Poorest of the Poor ( POP), which is not working according to their expectations.

Be that as it may, Mabuza expressed hope that the City of Tshwane Councilors will resolve the POP matter.
One of the speakers at the rally pointed out that under the DA administration in the City of Tshwane, the elderly were removed from the indigent programme (POP), leaving them heavily indebted to the municipality as they can’t afford to pay up.
She also expressed disappointment regarding the fact that the DA administration cancelled the free WiFi programme which had been established by the ANC, thus making it difficult for learners to access information that they require for their studies on the internet.
She also decried the City of Tshwane’s inability to fix potholes and pointed out that there is lack of police visibility in Mamelodi.
“In affluent areas where DA supporters live, there is service delivery but in townships like Mamelodi the DA has displayed neglect because it doesn’t care about black people,” she said.
She pointed out that the DA came into power in the Tshwane Municipality in 2016, because of low voter turnout, and urged residents to come out in numbers to vote for the ruling party.
An elderly woman told the gathered crowd that the high municipal debt they as the elderly people are owing to the City of Tshwane for services gives them sleepless nights, adding that the drug nyaope has destroyed the lives of many youths in Mamelodi and that drastic measures must be taken to stop its consumption and sale in the township.
Another elderly woman put it bluntly that black people are stupid because they have voted for a white party and emphasised that a white party won’t do anything for black people.
At the end of the meeting Mabuza handed out ANC-branded shawls ( doeks) and caps to the ardent party supporters.
