The Judiciary”S Failure to Hold President Ramaphosa Accountable

We continue to witness the courts protecting President Cyril Ramaphosa instead of upholding the law without fear or favour.

From the CR17 campaign millions, to Bosasa, to the Phala Phala farm scandal, to the unresolved questions around Mohamela and the so-called “1 Billion”, the pattern is clear: accountability stops at the President’s door.

The judiciary was meant to be the last line of defence for ordinary South Africans.

Instead, it has become a shield for the man who sits in the Union Buildings.

When the law is applied selectively, it ceases to be law.

When courts refuse to interrogate power, they abandon the people they swore to serve.

SPPSA says plainly: our judiciary is eating from the President’s arm.

The same institution that jails a poor man for stealing bread tiptoes around the billions tied to Ramaphosa’s name.

There is no regard for equal justice when the boss of the country is treated as above the Constitution.

South Africa cannot survive a two-tier justice system one for the connected, and one for the rest of us.

The men and women in robes must remember their oath is to the Republic, not to the President.

Until Ramaphosa faces the same scrutiny as any citizen, the courts are complicit in the erosion of the rule of law.

SPPSA demands a judiciary that fears no politician and favours no president.

The people are watching. History is watching.
