A new political formation called Region 7 New Generation Party has been formed in the City of Tshwane Municipal area.

Speaking to Tshwane Talks at the the party’s pre-launch ceremony held at Pat Shisanyama meat outlet in Ekangala on Sunday, the party’s founder and Secretary General Kagiso Gradual Popela said the following:

“The Region 7 New Generation Party is going to work for the people of this very region as they have been neglected by the City of Tshwane for a long time now.”

Popela said the City of Tshwane has ten Members of the Mayoral Committee ( MMCs) but none among them is from Region 7 of the City of Tshwane Municipality area.

“If people of this region vote for us in the upcoming 4 November 2026 Local Government Elections and help us obtain seats in the City Council of Tshwane, we are going to push hard for at least one MMC to be a person coming from Region 7 who has also been l born and bred here,” enthused Popela.

“We want Region 7 New Generation Party to push for the liberation of the people of our area by bringing us service delivery in line with our motto which says we are the champions of service delivery,” he explained.

He said there are no proper roads in region 7; that load reduction is rife in the region as well as lack of water.

“We are flabaggersted by the fact that we receive water on a full time basis only when elections are three to six months away and after the elections there is no water in our area,” he said.

“We are asking the people of Region 7 to vote for us because we are one of their own instead of voting for MMC Obakeng Ramabodu who originally comes from Ga-Rankuwa and presently stays in the inner city of Pretoria while claiming to be a representative of our region,” said Popela.

He said the EFF in Tshwane is arrogant towards the people of Region 7 as Ramabadu has only set foot once in their region, which was when he was introduced to the community of the region by Mayor Dr Nasiphi Moya.

Paramount Chief Mnguni from the Abanguni kingdom and Chief Zulu from the Zithobeni attended the pre-launch occasion of the party as did JB Sibanyoni who used to be a commissioner of the Human Rights Commission in Gauteng but is now managing the local Ekangala community radio station.

President of Region 7 New Generation Party Busisiwe Mahlangu said the party was definitely going to change the political game in the City of Tshwane as region 7 was currently dominated by the ruling ANC party with lots of injustices happening in terms of service delivery.

“The community of Region 7 now knows us and they must trust us with their votes because our party has taken a resolution to take care of our own region and revive our own local economy; we want solidarity and equality in our region, and that’s our solemn promise,” vowed Mahlangu.
