Soon-to-be ex-Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos is a sellout.

He doesn’t love this country and he paraded the Bafana Bafana team at the 2026 World Cup tournament like whipping boys; slaves from Africa who must be subjected to corporal punishment for having dared to trespass by entering the premises of a “private property” (read World Cup tournament).

After we beat South Korea his remarks were that it would be a miracle if Bafana would beat their next opponents Canada and proceed to the last 16 round of the tournament.

This is akin to a parent who would say it will be a miracle if his child would pass Matric (Grade 12) and proceed to study at varsity.

This sellout went all the way to make sure that we don’t succeed at the 2026 World Cup tournament.

My accusations are based on the following indisputable facts:

1.He picked more defenders and the so-called defensive midfielders than playmakers in his squad for the World Cup tournament.

Relebohile Mofokeng was one of only two playmakers picked by Broos, the other being Themba Zwane.

2.He deliberately picked players who were not match-fit in the likes of Themba Zwane who literally saw red after a few minutes in the field of play, and Aubrey Modiba whose performance at the tournament was nothing to write home about.

3.He arrogantly put Relebohile Mofokeng on the bench and never gave him a chance to showcase his talent against Mexico, and after being beaten in the selfsame game he remarked that he will again “do it his way” and that nobody will tell him what to do.

4.In the game against Czechia, Mofokeng performed very well and mesmerised the opposition with his township dribbling skills after being brought into the game at a late stage and inspiring Bafana to equalise; much to the admiration of the Spanish media in particular and the world at large.

Obviously Broos was the only person who was irritated by Mofokeng’s performance because he never expressed any words of praise for the 21-year-old Mofokeng.

5.In the game against South Korea he replaced Mofokeng when Bafana Bafana were leading 1-0 after again having been inspired by Mofokeng to score.

The sellout was obviously afraid that Mofokeng’s continued presence on the field of play would lead to Bafana Bafana scoring another goal.

6.In the game against Canada he replaced Mofokeng at half time secretly in the dressing room away from the glaring eyes of the media and the fans.

And the score was level at 0-0 at the time, and one would ask as to what it is that Mofokeng didn’t do right in the first half that he had to be replaced.

Since the sellout won’t answer this question, I am tempted to say Broos was afraid that Mofokeng would eventually help Bafana to score against the lousy Canada.

My oh my, if it is not broken why fix it Mr Broos?

Ayikhona….you are a sellout!

If the sellout insists that Mofokeng is not fit to play at the World Cup, then he must quit Bafana Bafana and go and coach teams which use overweight, bodybuilder-like players like Cameroon, Nigeria and Senegal etc.

We are ok with our nimble-footed, talented Mofokeng as our star and if anyone suggests that Broos must be retained as Bafana Bafana coach then that means Mofokeng will never be part of the Bafana Bafana set-up again.

South Africans will have to choose whether Broos stays on as coach or Mofokeng departs permanently from the Bafana team.

The two can’t exist together in the same team.

Now some apologetic football fans are satisfied that we reached the knock-out stages of the tournament, but facts reveal that this is no achievement at all because up until now the World Cup has always been contested by 32 teams right from the beginning of the tournament and Bafana have on all occasions that it has been to the World Cup, failed to go past the last 32 stage.

Did Broos help Bafana to go through the last 32 stage?

No, he didn’t and he is therefore no different to erstwhile Bafana coaches who failed to break the hoodo of exiting the tournament at the last 32 stage.

Those who are calling for a statue to be erected in his image and honour, are akin to folks who would insist that a statue must be erected in honour of apartheid-era killers of South African political activists.

Thanks for nothing Hugo Broos, hope you will enjoy the money paid to you by those who bought you to let Bafana Bafana down.

Bye-bye sellout!
