From age six with a brush in Soshanguve to galleries from Cape Town to Mauritius, Rudy Tshie turned childhood imagination into a global language.

The man they call Rudy paints South Africa in full colour its land, its leaders, its everyday streets and the world is looking.

Today, his breathtaking creations are showcased in art galleries worldwide.

With a studio once nestled at Soshanguve’s In-Service Centre and another in the works, Rudy’s creativity knows no bounds.

He’s also on the cusp of hosting a solo exhibition, a testament to his unwavering dedication.

Rudy’s forte lies in capturing the essence of South Africa’s landscapes, infusing his work with the vibrant culture and spirit of his homeland.

His artistic prowess has earned him global recognition, with features in esteemed art books and exhibitions at renowned galleries, including Greatmore Art Gallery in Cape Town and the Mangaung Cultural Festival Macufe Arts Festival.

His impressive résumé includes a solo exhibition at Tshwane’s Ditsong National Museum of Cultural History, where he showcased 87 awe-inspiring artworks. Rudy’s talent has taken him to international shores, representing South Africa at the Partage International Artists’ Workshop in Mauritius and frequently visiting the Thapong International Visual Artists’ Workshops in Botswana.

Awards and accolades have followed his meteoric rise, including first place at FUBA, a Certificate of Excellence from Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality Fine Arts, and wins at the Vukani Fashion Awards and the Spier Contemporary Public Audience competition.

Rudy’s artistry isn’t limited to landscapes. He’s also captured iconic figures like Dr Nelson Mandela and influential landmarks like the Union Buildings.

His vibrant depictions of everyday life, such as the bustling Makgatho section in Winterveldt, have resonated with art enthusiasts, including seasoned TV and radio personality Tim Modise.

Despite his success, Rudy remains humble, witty, and driven by a passion to create art that connects people across cultures and borders.
