Reyaga Community Projects is issuing an urgent public appeal to the community of Tshwane, Soshanguve, Mabopane, Ga-Rankuwa, and surrounding areas to help locate the families of workers who tragically lost their lives in workplace accidents
at Afrit (Pty) Ltd in Rosslyn during the mid-to-late 2000s.

This urgent appeal comes in the wake of a shocking administrative revelation.

In response to a formal Promotion of Access to Information Act (PAIA) request, SAPS Akasia has issued a sworn affidavit admitting that the official Inquest Docket (Akasia CAS 545/03/2008 ) for a fatal workplace accident at the plant cannot be found, was never digitally scanned, and contains zero records on the police electronic system.

While Reyaga Community Projects is currently representing and holding a formal mandate for the family of the late Samson
Mantshe Legodi who was tragically crushed by a beam at the plant former employees and whistleblowers have come forward stating that at least three other workers were killed on duty during that same era, including one worker who was fatally
electrocuted.

Because SAPS records for this era are missing or completely blank, the identities of the other deceased workers are being
obscured, denying their grieving families closure and the right to statutory justice or compensation.

We have the physical proof of Mr. Legodi’s tragic death, but we know he was not the only one,” says Michael Mpho Mudau,
President and Founder of Reyaga Community Projects.

“SAPS cannot tell us who these missing case numbers belong to because they lost the files. We are turning to the power of the media and our community to find these families.

If your father, brother, or husband worked at Afrit in Rosslyn and never came home because of a fatal workplace accident, please step forward.

You have a right to know what happened, and you have a right to justice.”
