The confiscation of assets of the Tembisa Hospital looters’ syndicates alone without any arrests.
These cruel, and greedy thieves must be arrested.
Now and again we see and hear that the court has granted a final order that the Asset Forfeiture Unit and the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) can now confiscate the assets from the Maumela syndicate who were allegedly involved in this “Tembisa Heist”, and that they will sell all the assets.
To us it does not make any sense that assets are confiscated from a suspect and that suspect is not arrested for goods that is in his/her possession illegally.
Our understanding of the reason why these assets are confiscated is because there were fraudulent and corrupt ways that were used to acquire these.
The Special Investigation Unit (SIU), with the Minister of Health, Dr Motstoaledi, and Gauteng Premier Lesufi, addressed the media last year in October on the Tembisa Hospital regarding the gross corruption of more than R2 billion that took place at the hospital.
The SIU told the country that they have identified several criminal syndicates operating at the hospital.
We will keep on asking the question, why are the Law Enforcement Agencies not arresting Hangwani Maumela and all those who are suspects of the looting of Thembisa hospital?
We cannot understand why confiscate Maumela and his syndicate’s assets and not arresting them.
The mere fact that assets are taken, it means there is a criminal case against the suspect.
Activists and Citizens Forum reminds the law enforcement agencies that people lost their lives in this “Tembisa Heist”.
Babita Deokaran lost her life brutality for blowing the whistle on that gross corruption.
We call upon the law enforcement agencies to arrest all who were involved in this Tembisa looting.
