The City of Tshwane Whippery Road Show in Eersterust was hosted by charity organisation Dynamic Life Changers Foundation on Wednesday 21 May.
The Whippery Road Show, which has covered various parts of Tshwane, is a new initiative by the office of the Chief Whip of the City of Tshwane Municipality Ald Molatelo Mashola and it underscores his office’s committment to serving the communities of Tshwane and strengthening relations between Councillors and the public that they serve.
According to a statement from the office of the Chief Whip, the aim of the Road Show initiative is to get the public to meet the Chief Whip and members of the Multiparty Whippery and to engage with them on the vital work being done in Council.

“Giving back to the community not only strengthens social bonds, but also fosters a spirit of compassion, empathy and unity among our Councillors and communities,” read the statement.
At the Eersterust Road Show held at the premises of Dynamic Life Changers Foundation at 7 Crystal Crescent, Chief Whip Mashola acknowledged local Ward Councillor Benjamin Lawrence and also thanked the leadership of Dynamic Life Changers Foundation for their efforts in making the Whippery Road Show a success.
Mashola expressed appreciation for the work done by the foundation as it is not an easy task at all because serving the community has never been easy.
Mashola urged local Councillors to take good care of the foundation and the community at large as this is very important.
“I don’t tolerate sloppy workmanship and it is my belief that all Councillors must not sit in office but go out there and work in order to serve the community,” said the Chief Whip.

MMC for Economic Development and Spatial Planning Sarah Mabotsa, who was also in attendance, said Eersterust is one of the most poverty-stricken areas in Tshwane and that the previous City of Tshwane administrations never came to Eersterust to see for themselves the dire situation wherein the residents of the area find themselves in and try to alleviate their plight.
“This is the first but certainly not the last visit by us to Eersterust,” enthused Mabotsa.
She said more than 80 000 jobs will be created via the Tshwane Revitalisation Strategy and that residents of Eersterust must also benefit from this job creation programme.
She pointed out that in the past the Extended Public Works Programme (EPWP) used to be discriminatory but will from now be applied on a ward-by-ward basis to make sure that as many people as possible are employed in every ward.
Mabotsa urged residents of Eersterust to get involved in the Informal Trading by-law public participation process which will ensure that they as residents of Eersterust become owners of local businesses instead of foreigners owning all the businesses in their area.
The Whippery donated large amounts of household cleaning materials, sanitary pads and toiletries to the Dynamic Life Changers Foundation, which in turn distributed the said items to the community of Eersterust.
On the self-same day, Dynamic Life Changers Foundation rolled out various clothing items to the residents of Eersterust in line with the foundation’s Clothing Drive programme.
In response to the kind gesture by the Whippery, Dynamic Life Changers Foundation founder and CEO Bashan Jacobs
said the following:
“We are grateful to receive the donations from the Whippery on behalf of the residents of Eersterust and from now onwards we are going to make sure that the best comes to Eersterust and that Eersterust also gives out the best.”
He thanked local PR Councillor Debyre Williams Moses for her constant support to the foundation and also expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the publicity that is given to the foundation by the local Eersterust community radio station Poort FM.
As a parting shot Bashan Jacobs said the following:
“We give without prejudice, we are here for the community to benefit.”
