You got to be a total failure to admire your opponent.

That’s not praise, but express of hopelessness and lack of both faith and confidence in oneself.

Without any doubt, what Cyril Ramaphosa told his municipality charges at FNB yesterday has no precedence, and it is yet another form of failure by himself and the ANC deployees.

By saying to the councilors you must to the DA for examples of good governance and service delivery, should not be seen as an hope-hearted advise and good citizenry.

Rather, it says ‘white’ counterparts are better administrators, and they are proving it.

It says finally, and in not so many words, accepting what others have said before but have been dismissed undermining a ‘black’ government, that “apartheid was better”!

This morning someone evoked this adage that “Sehlare sa motho motsho ke lekgowa” – – You need a ‘white’ person to fix a ‘black’ (or his problems).

It’s a very disturbing phrase, for now it has become a self-fulfilled prophesy of sorts.

In fact, yesterday’s confession by Ramaphosa confirmed that phrase to be an acceptable idiomatic expression to those who believe it, like himself, apparently.

However, even after yesterday’s utterances by Ramaphosa, there would be those who would not believe they have failed.

This failure showed itself in the way the Commander-in-Chief of the not-so-glorious-movement and of the defence force counseling the ANC councilors on doing their work, as if they had not heard that before.

For thirty years there has been orientation for running municipalities, numerous trips to learn from other countries, and manifestos of preparedness to deliver services.

Budgets have been tabled with billions channeled towards work, only for that money to disappear as it had been dropped in the failing and failed drainage system.

Even today the councilors are being told that their constituencies are losing water because of poor or lack of service delivery in their localities.

Nothing is as shaming as being repeatedly being reminded about things you naturally are supposed to execute without blinking.

We know, even so, that what prevailed yesterday was mere talk shop. Indeed, we are no longer surprised by anything arising from ANC meetings – – call them by any name, it does not make any difference.

It does not matter how much is said about corruption, by whom.

As much as you can call veterans, be they members of the cloth, to address the operatives or deployees.

You could almost hear some of the councillors silently denouncing Reverend Frank Chikane, saying in their hearts “Uthi sidle’phi lo?” – – Where does this one expect us to eat?

For no amount of moralising the issues in the ANC has ever changed anything. Instead the more you moralise, the worst things become.

No matter how much the horse’s head is pressed onto the river for it to drink, it refuses to!

I can imagine the seemingly exasperated priest went home and asked himself, “What have I just said, why did I even bother…?”

For it does not mean his saying what he said would change anything.

Those attendees will still prove their point: “It is our time to eat!”

That problem is endemic that it appears the ANC has even abandoned the talk about “renewal”. It has come to terms with the truth that no kind of polishing can renew the rot.

Yet, something must be said. For some, it would be good advise the option of closing shop as Mr. Ramaphosa seems to suggest to his comrades.

Although he and the ANC sought to have that occasion to serve as a headstart to campaigns for next year’s local government elections, his statement of rooting for the DA was obvious, and could cause his party votes a few who might still be hopeful his party can turn things around.

But as the public we are on the receiving end. Although there seems to be a change in the orientation of voters.

You can see by a furious and cussing former loyal ANC member burning the regalia with ANC colours that people have had it.

Now lately there’s a song circulating which says: “Ga o le motho o voutela ANC, a wa tsenwa?” Any person voting for ANC must be crazy. “O semawumawu” – – You must be very stupid! After all these year…

Perhaps in their minds the councillors are telling themselves the writing is on the wall – – “Mene Mene tekel…” So we might as well loot as much as we can, while we still have time: it might be the end.

What option do they have when their leader cheers for the opposing team! The president shot them in the foot.

He wouldn’t care even if he is recalled. His belly is already full…
