EFF leader in Tshwane Obakeng Ramabodu, who is also MMC for Environmental Management and Agriculture, told residents of Atteridgeville last Saturday that the new coalition government that is in charge of Tshwane is here to sort out the mess that was created by the DA-led coalition government for a period of 8 years.

The DA came into power in Tshwane in 2016 by entering into a coalition with parties like the EFF to oust the ANC from the City of Tshwane’s municipal government, with Solly Msimanga ascending to the position of the City’s first citizen.

Just before the 2021 local government elections the EFF got out of its coalition agreement with the DA and as a result the DA entered into a coalition with ActionSA, leading to the DA retaining power in Tshwane as leader of the coalition government.

Around October last year ActionSA abandoned its coalition with the DA and opted to vote together with the EFF and the ANC to oust then incumbent Mayor Cilliers Brink from his position as the Mayor.

“The white-led City of Tshwane coalition government used to run away from you, but we as the new administration are always willing to engage you in what we do,” said Ramabodu.

Ramabodu claimed that there are rich white people who don’t pay rent and municipal services in the City of Tshwane, yet the previous DA-led government never did anything about the matter, but instead took the so-called issue of R26 billion allegedly owed by township residents to court.

He said the alleged R26 billion originates from wrongful billing conducted by the DA-led coalition.

“We are going to solve City of Tshwane problems issue by issue, and those found to be owing faulty bills will have those bills scrapped,” said Ramabodu.

He appealed to residents’ association leaders like Tshepo Mahlangu of LASCA to come and sit down with the City of Tshwane Municipality government and sort out residents’ problems.

Ramabodu appealed to residents of Atteridgeville to continue keeping their township clean, emphasising that Atteridgeville was one of the cleanest townships in Tshwane and that even those living in the informal settlement areas of Atteridgeville like Mshenguville, were making an effort to keep their environment clean.

He revealed that there is a company known as UGX, which entered into a R500 million fraudulent contract with the DA-led City of Tshwane municipality, resulting in funds being stolen by white crooks in the municipality.

According to Ramabodu, the present government of the City of Tshwane is neither an ANC nor an EFF government, and neither is it an ActionSA government, but that it is a government of the people of Tshwane which must be supported and not be fought against.
