Advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane being sworn in at the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature photo supplied
Former Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane has labelled as false media reports suggesting that she has been removed unceremoniously from her position as MK Party chairperson in the Mpumalanga Province.
She said the aforesaid media reports have been published by reporters who don’t attend MK Party events when they are invited to do so “but always have everything negative to write about MKP.”
In setting the record straight, Mkhwebane said the MK Party National High Command (NHC) in preparation for the forthcoming Local Government Elections, “took a resolution to collapse all structures of the organisation and form election teams.”
According to Mkhwebane, various branches of MK Party in the Mpumalanga Province gathered at their respective regions to nominate members who will be serving in the sub-regional, regional and provincial structures of the election team.
Mkhwebane has been elected to serve at the provincial election team structures and will therefore be leading the election campaign in Mpumalanga.
Mkhwebane was also sworn in today (Friday 10 April 2026) as an MK Party member in the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature.
Clearly satisfied by these developments, Mkhwebane said the following:
“We are cruising nicely.”
