On Sunday 03 August 2025, in the early evening, members from the South African Police Service Gauteng Water Policing and Diving Services attended a drowning scene at Delfie Quarry Dam, Mamelodi Tshwane.
Allegedly, a mother aged 51 years was busy with a cleansing ceremony with her daughter, 36 years old and two sons in their 20’s when they allegedly went under water and never came up.

A 7-year-old daughter on the banks who witnessed the event ran home for help.
Upon arrival of WPDS and Emergency Services, the bodies of the mother and daughter were found floating in the dam and recovered.
Due to the depth of the dam WPDS divers returned early Monday morning and after a 40 minute dive managed to recover the bodies of the two sons.
An inquest docket is currently under investigation by the Boschkop SAPS.
