MMC for Utilities, Frans Boshielo, accompanied by Ward 32 Councillor Floyd Thema,officials from the Energy and Electricity Business Unit (EEBU) launched the Ga-Rankuwa Zone 14 Electrification Project.
The project has successfully electrified 340 households, with each beneficiary
receiving a prepaid electricity meter.
In addition, four transformers were successfully energised on site to strengthen the local electricity network and ensure a reliable power supply to the community.
The electrification project was implemented using overhead medium- and low-voltage
network infrastructure, designed to improve electricity access while enhancing the
stability and resilience of the distribution network.
Speaking during the launch, MMC Boshielo reaffirmed the City’s commitment to
expanding access to electricity and improving the quality of life of residents through sustainable infrastructure investment.
“This project demonstrates the City of Tshwane’s commitment to ensuring that more
households have access to safe, reliable and affordable electricity.
Electrification remains a key priority in our efforts to improve service delivery and stimulate socio-economic development in our communities,” said MMC Boshielo.
The Ga-Rankuwa Zone 14 Electrification Project forms part of the City of Tshwane’s
ongoing programme to stabilise and strengthen electricity supply, expand access to electricity, and improve the reliability of the network across all regions of the city.
