The City of Tshwane is taking bold steps to rejuvenate its urban fabric, breathing new life into neglected municipal spaces and restoring dignity to the built environment.

Through the focused work of the Bad Buildings Committee, ten strategically located municipal properties are now being released for lease and development marking a powerful shift from urban
decay to purposeful renewal.

This initiative is more than a property release; it is a city-wide call to action.

By reclaiming and repurposing underutilised assets, Tshwane is reversing years of deterioration and transforming forgotten spaces into vibrant hubs of opportunity.

Each site represents a chance to rebuild, reconnect, and reignite economic and social vitality across our communities.

The rejuvenation of these properties is part of a broader mission to ensure that every corner of Tshwane contributes to growth, job creation, and community upliftment. Investors, developers,
and entrepreneurs are invited to be part of this transformation—turning dormant land into dynamic spaces that serve the people of Tshwane.

The revitalisation sites include:

•Erf 1932 Zwartkop Extension 16
•Remainder of Erf 6957 Mamelodi (HM Pitje Stadium)
•Nelson Mandela Corridor Project properties in Sunnyside (Erven 1/822 – 1417 and related
erven)
•Odi Stadium, Portion of the Remainder of the Farm Mabopane 702-JR
•Pretoria Showgrounds Events Centre, Skougronde Farm No. 648-JR, and Portion 5 of
Pretoria Town and Townlands Farm No. 346-JR
•Erf 43 Verwoerdburgstad
•Rosslyn Industrial Properties (Erven 372–375, 396–399, 401–403, and
469–470 Rosslyn Extension)

These sites, once symbols of neglect, are now positioned to become engines of local development.

The Bad Buildings Committee has played a pivotal role in identifying and unlocking their potential, ensuring that Tshwane’s urban renewal is both strategic and inclusive.

To further empower residents, the City continues to roll out the “Know Your Way In – Lease Application Workshop,” a capacity-building initiative that equips communities with the tools and confidence to access municipal opportunities transparently and effectively.
