The District Commissioner of Tshwane, Major-General Samuel Thine, led the destruction of liquor seized during integrated crime prevention operations conducted by the South African Police Service (SAPS) in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies in Tshwane on Thursday.

The destruction of liquor was held at Tshwane Metro waterworks Daspoort wastewater treatment works.
A total of 11,429,093 millilitres of confiscated liquor was destroyed over the course of three weeks by various police stations within the Tshwane District.
In his address, Major-General Thine stated that the SAPS had successfully shut down several illegal liquor establishments across the district and issued fines to the owners.
“Starting today, we will be disposing of 11,429,093 millilitres of various brands of liquor to clear our stores to create space.
I want to send a clear message to all: Tshwane Police will show no leniency towards criminal activity during the festive season.
Liquor outlets must comply with the Liquor Act and prioritize the safety of their patrons. The responsible use of alcohol is essential, and we remind drivers not to drive under the influence.
There will be no excuses.
Zero tolerance for drunk driving will be enforced.”
