Tshwane Metro Police Department continues to crack down on crime in Tshwane

The Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) has successfully conducted two joint by-law operations and a road policing operation on Tuesday, 16 July 2024.

TMPD By-law Unit and Task Team Unit members and other law enforcement agencies carried out an operation in the Pretoria West precinct. The operation produced great results.

During the operation, one illegal immigrant was found in possession of bogus documents (asylums, SARS documents, marriage certificates and passports) and he was arrested for possession of and producing fake documents.

The members continued with the operation and confiscated fake branded clothing items and several perishable items.

A total of nine businesses were inspected to check for compliance and Section 56 notices were issued to businesses who were found in contravention of the law.

Another by-law operation was carried out by TMPD regional members in the Pretoria North area.

The operation was focused on cleaning up the area to restore the image of the city.

A total of 15 illegally erected structures were demolished, several goods that were being sold on the side of the road were confiscated and 20 Section 56 infringement notices to the value of R17 300 were issued for contravention of City bylaws.

On a separate operation convened on the same date, the TMPD Task Team Unit and Overload Control Unit members conducted a road policing operation in the Onderstepoort area on the R566 Rosslyn Road and Soutpan Road.

The operation was mainly focusing on driver and vehicle fitness.

During the operation, a total of 72 vehicles were inspected whereby 17 DiscontinueUse notices and 17 AARTO infringement notices were issued to motorists for various road traffic violations.

The TMPD will continue to enforce the law to maintain order. The Chief of Police, Commissioner YCR Faro, encourages all residents to comply with the law.
