The Tshwane Metro Police Department in Region 1 Sector 1, together with other law enforcement agencies led by the Deputy Chief of Police, Nomsa Nhlapho, conducted a by-law operation in Soshanguve on Tuesday.
The operation was aimed at ensuring small business compliance with City of Tshwane by-law regulations.
Spokesperson of TMPD Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba said the focus was on educating business owners about the necessary steps they should take to operate within the legal framework set by the municipality.
The operation proved to be successful, with two businesses being closed for noncompliance.
“Several counterfeit items were confiscated, and two illegal immigrants were arrested, while 37 Section 56 notices amounting to R26 000 were issued to
business owners who were found to be in contravention of municipal by-law
regulations.
This proactive approach to enforce by-laws is crucial in maintaining order and ensuring that businesses operate in a manner that is safe and beneficial to the community,” said Senior Superintendent Mahamba.
He said Deputy Chief of Police, Nomsa Nhlapho, and acting Director, JC Mpetsheni, commended all the members involved in the operation for their dedication and hard work.
“The Tshwane Metro Police Department is determined to enforce City by-laws and create a conducive environment for businesses to thrive,” he said.
