TODAY’S YOUTHS FACED WITH LOTS OF CHALLENGES
By Kamogelo Mahlangu
Today’s youths are facing lots of challenges which they are unable to voice out.
They instead use lots of excuses and fall into the traps of life.
Life is a challenge itself and as a young person if you don’t have any firm background or mentor to guide or motivate you, then you are doomed.
At times life on its own discourages one from doing lots of things that one should actually be doing.
The main problem in challenges facing the youths is the communication gap they exist between them (youths) and their elders.
Youths fall into the trap of believing themselves to be old enough to take decisions regarding personal or social matters.
The most common problem a youth faces in this phase of life is Peter pressure.
One is either dared or threatened to do what they would rather avoid doing.
Some people are naturally competitive and they strive to act in ways that would enhance their image by either impressing or intimidating others.
This can be seen in their disobedience of the elders who try to impart on them experience and wisdom which they as young people presently lack.
Biologically, youth is a stage of life whereby an individual is caught between childhood and adulthood.
This phase represents lots of energy, freshness, vibrancy and talent in various things.
Most of the time the youth put emphasis on things like music, clothes, dating, sports, social media and vocabulary.
The following are some of the main social issues that trouble today’s youths:
1. Social media.
2. Peer pressure.
3. On-screen violence.
4. Depression.
5. Bullying.
6. Sexual activities.
7. Drug abuse.
8. Alcohol abuse.
Youths want the world to be their playground because they want to have fun while learning.
They want to have freedom of choice to pave their own learning path and creative journey.
They need motivation and support in this regard.
We are a youth that is fill of dreams and we therefore need our elders, community and social media to motivate and support us.
Can the government, community and our elders please be our supporters and life guides?
Nice piece! I really enjoyed 😉 and thanks Tshwane Talks I’m in love with your news it keeps me updated everyday
