


TMPD destroyed illegal structures and shut down business in Mamelodi, Tshwane photos supplied
The Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) along with other relevant stakeholders from the City of Tshwane, conducted the Rea Spana Operation in Mamelodi on Tuesday, 18 August 2026.
During the operation, 17 illegally constructed structures were demolished. This swift action serves as a strong warning against unlawful land occupation within the City of Tshwane.
On the same day in Eersterust, TMPD regional policing members conducted business compliance inspections in line with city by-laws.
Several businesses were inspected for compliance, and five (5) supermarkets were closed for non-compliance.
The TMPD urges business owners to adhere to all statutory requirements and encourages public cooperation.
