The TMPD Taxi and Task Team Unit impounded 24 taxis for various violations related to non-compliance with the National Land Transport Act (NLTA) Act 5 of 2009 during festive season operations carried out in various areas in the City of Tshwane, including Pretoria Central, Centurion, and at R80 Mabopane Highway yesterday and today, Tuesday 16 December 2025.

In addition, the TMPD Speed Unit intercepted a white bakkie carrying a mountain of load on N1 North before N4 Bakwena Highway.

The vehicle was taken to Akasia Weighbridge.

It was discovered that the load exceeded the allowed limit by 73.33%.

Furthermore, the trailer attached to the bakkie had no form of identification, no license disc, or number plate.

It was impounded. Overloading is extremely dangerous, as it can significantly compromise vehicle stability and control, increasing the risk of accidents and skidding.

These operations are part of ongoing efforts to enforce road traffic regulations and ensure NRTA and NLTA compliance.

There will be no leniency shown towards those who break the law.

It is imperative for all road users to obey the law to avoid accidents and fatalities.
