The City of Tshwane continues its efforts to reduce water losses and high consumption through an intervention service delivery operation in regions that are experiencing a high number of leaks and sewer blockages led by MMC for Utility Services, Cllr Frans Boshielo, responsible for Water and Sanitation Business Unit (WSBU) and the Water
& Sanitation operational and maintenance teams.
Recently the programme was in Region 6, from the 13th – 17th October 2025 targeting wards 6,10,15,16,17,18,23,28,38,40,67,86,93, and 97 wherein 112 water meters and
116 pipe leaks were repaired as well as clearing of 97 sewer overflows.
Furthermore, the operation managed to resolve 18 most critical service delivery issues affecting the
ward councillors.
MMC Boshielo extended his gratitude to the teams and encouraged the councillors to continue to escalate any water leaks and sewer overflows to ensure that the objective to reduce water loss is achieved.
The #ThibaDiLeakage intervention will be redirected to Region 1 from the 11th November 2025 targeting Soshanguve, Mabopane and Garankuwa areas which still have high consumption patterns and leakages.
MMC Boshielo continues the clarion call to residents to continue to use water sparingly and appeals for patience for the inconvenience that may arise during theimplementation of the operation.
He further urges the residents to report the leakages on time to avoid water wastage.
