THE PATRIOTIC ALLIANCE’S POSITION ON THE MOTION OF NO CONFIDENCE IN MAYOR CILLIERS BRINK

By Debyre Williams-Moses

Patriotic Alliance PR Councilor

1. *The Patriotic Alliance’s Position on the Motion of No Confidence in Mayor Cilliers Brink:*

The Patriotic Alliance (PA) operates as an independent political entity, unaligned with any particular party.

Our decision to support the motion of no confidence in Mayor Brink stems from a principled stance based on performance and accountability, not factional politics.

It is clear that under Mayor Brink’s leadership, Tshwane has experienced a significant decline in service delivery, which directly impacts the quality of life for its residents.

This motion is about holding leadership accountable for their failures in governance, not about choosing sides in party politics.

2. *PA’s Alignment in Tshwane:*

The PA in Tshwane remains steadfast in our position of political independence.

We do not subscribe to the dynamics of factionalism, whether ANC- or DA-led.

Our priority is the well-being of the people of Tshwane, and we assess every decision on the merits of its impact on service delivery and governance.

It is essential that the people of Tshwane receive competent and transparent leadership, irrespective of which political faction holds power.

3. *Justification of the Motion Against Mayor Brink:*

The motion of no confidence against Mayor Brink is, in our view, fully justified.

The administration under his leadership has presided over numerous instances of irregular and wasteful expenditure, yet these issues have been conveniently ignored or downplayed by the media and other stakeholders.

The city continues to struggle with basic service delivery, from infrastructure maintenance to waste management, all of which are critical to the daily lives of Tshwane’s residents.

We believe that leaders must be held accountable for the deterioration of services and mismanagement of municipal funds.

The people of Tshwane deserve leadership that is both effective and fiscally responsible. To name a few, from residents:

*Ward 43 Region 6: The last strike action on 12 Aug 2024 that took place was due non service delivery issues, streetlights not working for years, hijacking of buildings, constant water outages due to burst pipe, unscheduled power outages due to old infrastructure and sub-stations etc.

The Executive Mayor Cilliers Brink was in Eersterust on Monday 9th Sept 2024, to address issues and give a way forward in regards to issues raised by community.

*Ward 91:

•2 illegal informal settlements next to woodlands mall (cemetery and plastic view)

•Also plastic view has started illegal dumping next to the road on garsfontein road opposite builders warehouse.

•Issue was submitted to our councilor but nothing was done.

*Ward 87 Region 5, •Springkaan street pole 17,a issue with a pole for the past 6 years I have report it and nothing happen if wind blow then we don’t have street lights.

*Ward 41 Region 5:

•The non working streetlights in our area have been reported numerous times over the period of 5 years but its not being replaced.

•We have been robbed twice in this year and so many crime is taking place because it is dark all over.

*Ward 59:

– There are no emergency services
– Broken pipes are left like that for months.
– Our infrastructure is a mess.

*Ward 30 Region 1:

•Sewerage all over the area coming out of people’s houses and streets.

•Illegal connection of electricity behind industrial site to the squadcamp.

*Region 3 Ward 1:

•Sewerage flowing through residential homes in Capital Park- Myburg Street.

Same had been escalated many times to the Ward Councillor Leon Kruyshaar with action taken;

•Illegal Electricity Connection as well as house hijackings in and around Capital Park also known and reported to the Councillor with no joy;

•Streetlights not working in the parts of Capital Park, fuelling crime in our community, Same reported countless times to Leon with no joy.

*Ward 19:

•the other issue is the toilet drain infrastructure.

The infrastructure is partly damaged and leaking out to the streets and damaging the tar roads.

•Winterveld, Jackie Road, a serious issue of illegal occupation of farms by foreign nationals in 5,10 morgan and part of mmakaunyane some are even used for hiding and other criminal activities we need to organise and arrange for the eviction and reclaiming those farms for community development projects and occupation.

•Streets and infrastructure problems in winterveld city of Tshwane municipality.

*Ward 60 in region 3 Elandspoort Pretoria west.

•The issue is that foreigners are talking land and hijacking buildings and houses in Danville and Elandspoort. And the ANC cllr know about this.

•Hornsnek road (M17) urgently needs attention to increasingly more and dangerous potholes.

In conclusion, our stance is driven by our commitment to the people and our unwavering principle that governance must serve the best interests of the community, not political allegiances.

  1. Ek is n PA lid. Asb tog.
